LATIN AMERICAN WOMEN’S RIGHTS SERVICE

Outreach Project Coordinator – Southwark

Closing date: 11 June 2017

Part time (3 days per week), fixed term contract ending 31 March 2018, with possibilities for extension

Salary: £28,475 pro rata

Description: LAWRS is seeking a motivated Latin American woman for the Outreach and Development Coordinator – Southwark role, to reach out to, and improve life chances for Latin American women in the borough not accessing essential services and support. The Coordinator will continue the successful work that LAWRS has been doing in Southwark since 2010 and develop new and sustainable ways of addressing needs of Latin American women, including by developing services and partnerships with other providers in Southwark, by ensuring that Latin American women can actively participate in local issues relevant to them and by developing opportunities for improved life chances for Latin American women in the borough.

You will have a minimum of two years’ experience of community development work; experience working in the voluntary sector in London; excellent understanding of local decision making structures in the UK; project management experience and strategic skill; an excellent command of English and Spanish, both orally and in writing; an excellent understanding of the issues facing Latin American women in London; outstanding communications and networking skills; problem solving skills with the ability to think and act creatively and have a commitment to promote and uphold women’s rights.

Operations and Development Manager

Salary: £32,650 per year

DescriptionThe Operations and Development Manager is a senior role within our rapidly expanding organisation with wide ranging responsibilities for the performance and development of services and operations and the development of activities and programmes. She will manage service and business operations across the organization ensuring the organizational effectiveness of LAWRS. In particular she will take primary responsibility for client services and organisational aspects and ensure the delivery of high quality direct services that bring about evidenced positive outcomes for service users and satisfactorily account for these services to funders and supporters.

The successful candidate will have: minimum two years direct experience of operational management in an advice and/or frontline service providing organisation, at least three years’ experience of project management, experience in supervising staff and excellent leadership skills; experience working with a range of statutory and voluntary organisations in the UK; financial, organisational and fundraising skills; a track record in implementing strategy; excellent communications skills; thorough understanding of the needs of Latin American women in the UK and a commitment to secure and uphold women’s rights. Fluency in Spanish and English or Portuguese and English is essential.

No Limits Project Coordinator

DescriptionLAWRS’ No Limits Projects supports Latin American girls and young women (LAGYW) aged 14 to 21 who are navigating difficult life situations as recently arrived migrants to the UK. It uses the arts as a vehicle for self-expression and creates a supportive environment for LAGYW to develop their potential and transform their lives and prospects. We are seeking a “No Limits” Project Coordinator to lead on the day to day management of the programme, widely promote “No Limits” to engage the most isolated LAGYW, ensure that LAGYW have opportunities to take leadership roles in the project, enable LAGYW to get involved in planning, implementing and evaluating their activities and ensure that LAGYW can access the services and support they need to address educational, emotional and wellbeing needs amongst others.
You will be a dynamic and innovative person; will have an excellent command of English and Spanish, both orally and in writing; familiarity with statutory and voluntary services for young people in the UK; experience of working using participatory approaches with young people; excellent knowledge of legislation and issues that apply working with young people; experience of recruiting and supervising volunteers; excellent organisational and project management skills; an excellent understanding of the issues facing Latin American young women in the UK and a commitment to promote and uphold women’s rights and equal opportunities. The post holder will line manage the Crèche Coordinator and will act as the organisations’ Child Protection Officer.

The practitioner will provide support through one to one casework, advocacy and group work.

Women and Girls Network (WGN)are currently seeking a VAWG Prevention Worker to join the YW Team. We are looking for a creative and dynamic practitioner who is experienced in developing and delivering group work programmes to young women who have been victims of or at risk of all forms of Violence Against Women and Girls including sexual exploitation and gang related violence. The practitioner deliver group work in school, alternative education provision and community based settings and will take a lead role in developing a Whole Schools Approach to working around Violence Against Women and Girls.

A key aspect of this role will be working with young women and girls (age 14 to 25), therefore experience of working with young women and girls and an in-depth understanding of issues young women face is essential.

We will provide you regular clinical supervision, access to our on-going CPD programme and the opportunity to work in a leading multi-cultural feminist organisation
