Fundraising Assistant at Women’s Aid

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. Over the past 44 years, Women’s Aid has been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic violence and abuse through practice, research and policy. They empower survivors by keeping their voices at the heart of our work, working with and for women and children by listening to them and responding to their needs.

They are a federation of over 180 organisations who provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across the country. They provide expert training, qualifications and consultancy to a range of agencies and professionals working with survivors or commissioning domestic abuse services, and award a National Quality Mark for services which meet our quality standards. Women’s Aid hold the largest national data set on domestic abuse, and use research and evidence to inform all of their work. The campaigns achieve change in policy, practice and awareness, encouraging healthy relationships and helping to build a future where domestic abuse is no longer tolerated.

They are looking for an administrator who is enthusiastic, proactive and organised to support their Fundraising Manager and her team, helping them to work more effectively.  This opportunity is perfect for someone looking to gain experience in fundraising or direct marketing in a fast-paced organisation.

With previous experience in a customer facing role you will have strong data entry and communication skills with excellent attention to detail. You will be exceptionally well-organised and work well within a team.

As part of the Fundraising Team you will help coordinate logistics from scheduling and preparing meetings to managing diaries and preparing reports to help ensure the team runs smoothly.  In addition, you will be the first point of contact for enquiries and be responsible for maintaining the fundraising database.  In this varied role you will also get involved and take the lead in ad hoc projects that will help support our work to end domestic violence against women and children.

It is essential that you have experience of providing office support, as well as well-developed communication, admin and coordination skills. Good at word processing and taking minutes, you are great with people and are comfortable meeting multiple deadlines. Happy in a busy environment you will be able to work on your own initiative, have an eye for detail and the confidence to make changes to improve processes.

Location: Bristol (with some travel required)

Salary: £19,153 pro rata (based on NJC pay scale points 20 – 24).

Contract: 22.2 hours per week (3 days), 6 month temporary contract

This exciting volunteering opportunity will support Women’s Aid’s busy and dynamic Campaigns and Public Affairs team, playing an important role in the campaigns, policy and public affairs work. This will include a range of opportunities – from supporting the Women’s Aid Campaign Champions Network of grass-roots campaigners, to assisting the team in the lead up to Party Conferences in Autumn 2018. You will be helping to organise meetings and events, monitoring the parliamentary work and influence, and supporting the development of policy, public affairs and campaigns materials, as well as undertaking other administrative duties as required.

Previous experience of working on campaigns, within the charity sector, or an understanding of the workings of Parliament and Government will be beneficial – but are not required – for this voluntary position.

Location: London

Salary: As this is a voluntary position we are unable to provide remuneration for this role.

Contract: 1 day a week (flexible dependent on availability) for an initial period of 12 weeks.

Women and Girls Network is a specialist therapeutic service leading in developing and delivering innovative and effective counselling services for women and girls who have experienced all forms of gender-based violence.

They aim to ensure that they are proactive in developing specialist services that meet the needs of all the women and girls who access their services. WGN seek Specialist Counsellors who will thrive in a multi-cultural feminist environment.

They are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have experience of working with one or more of the following:

  • Women and girls from Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic and Refuge (BAMER) communities – ensuring that issues related to diversity and identity are effectively understood and sensitively worked with. They are also particularly keen to hear from applicants who speak community languages (e.g. south Asian languages).
  • Women and girls who have experienced harmful practices.
  • Creative solutions in working with survivors of gender-based violence that are affected by problematic substance use and mental ill health.

Applicants must be BACP or UKCP accredited (or eligible) and have experience of providing a range of counselling interventions for women who have experienced gender-based violence. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following: gender responsive approach, trauma focused, holistic therapeutic responses and multicultural competencies. Facilitating recovery and responding to a diverse client group with multiple cultural identities.

WGN will be offering a maximum of 7-14 hours a week which will be dependent on the skills set of the successful candidates. At present, they are looking for Specialist Counsellors to work in various locations across London, including Ealing, Harrow, Hounslow and Lewisham.

The Research, Monitoring and Information (RMI) Officer will undertake a pivotal role in enhancing WGN’s research and evaluation capabilities by supporting and developing advanced monitoring and data collection systems.
