Description: Claudia Jones Organisation is seeking to recruit an experienced domestic violence professional to support survivors of DV as part of Hackney Women’s Haven partnership project for African and Caribbean heritage women & girls.  This exciting initiative seeks to improve prevention and intervention responses to violence against women and girls across the London Borough of Hackney.

Claudia Jones Organisation is the lead partner in Hackney Women’s Haven – a BIG Lottery Funded Women and Girls Initiative. Claudia Jones Organisation primarily supports and empowers women and families of African and Caribbean heritage, providing culturally sensitive services that meet the needs of these women and families. You will be joining the organisation at a crucial time in the development of this project.

Description:

Advance delivers nationally accredited, quality marked services in Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea. We work within a coordinated partnership response to domestic violence to provide independent domestic violence advocacy and support for women, children and young people and women’s community services for women who are involved in the criminal justice system, in anti-social behaviour or are at risk of breaking the law.

The Duty IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process specializing in working with clients at high risk. They will work within the team to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women from aged 13, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service.

Solace Women’s Aid

North London Rape Crisis Helpline volunteer

Closing Date: 5pm Monday 14 August 2017

Time: 12 hours per month for 1 year

Description:

North London Rape Crisis is currently looking for helpline volunteers to provide support to women and girls age 13+ who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives. The volunteers will be required to commit to 12 months post training and to attend a 10 week training course on Fridays from 15th September to 17th October. You are required to attend 80% of the sessions to be able to proceed to working on the helpline. You will need to have an interest in working with survivors of sexual violence and will have the opportunity to work towards an OCN accredited qualification for ‘Professionals Working in the Sexual Violence Sector’ at level 2 or 3.

Please note that our volunteer opportunities are open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1), and that these volunteer roles are exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 and subject to enhanced DBS checks.

Advance’s Minerva service works with women involved in the Criminal Justice System offering safe, targeted support and advocacy to women to help them address their complex needs in relation to the 9 pathways to offending, such as substance misuse and financial difficulties.

The post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, be able to remain calm in a crisis and be confident in handling sensitive information on a daily basis.
